Literature Text

Flickering fluorescent lights to eyes,

Teachers' monotonous droning to ears,

Rigid desk and chair to body,

Unwashed classmates crowding to nostrils,

Tongue barred answering even lies.

Shunted out into the halls,

Jostled roughly to and fro,

Unseen as if a ghost,

Unheard as if a mouse,

Alone among many inside walls.

At last seen by peers,

But those eyes only glower,

His wounds are on display,

To the school's feral wolves,

They attack his smallest fears.

Seen now by the girl,

And he's got a crush,

She sneers at his sight,

And ridicules before all,

His shame did she unfurl.

He retreats into the dark,

Of crushing loneliness once again,

Even in halls he shrinks,

Hoping to remain ever unseen,

Never daring to again spark.

*drinks your tears*
